Some thoughts on recent challenges we are facing in our beautiful nation.
We are a Canadian family owned and operated small business. We are proud
Canadians that also have family in the United States, and ties to many lovely people in that country. At this time it can be hard to separate emotions and facts and knowledge and perceptions. We understand.
To say we are happy about what is happening currently with the USA is very untrue, but to say we see a silver lining would be accurate. We continue to strive for transparency and accountability in from all the brands we offer, and we welcome consumers' demand to know more about the product they are buying, where it comes from, and who that money is going to…that is a value we celebrate!
Supporting Canadian can be done in many ways...but buying local from your local independent Canadian-owned businesses is the most powerful way to support.
Why? Great question! It keeps that money in your/our community, it gives you the chance to engage in person, make suggestions about what you would like to see in your stores, and ensure your immediate community will be able function for a long time!
In response to renewed demand for transparency, you will see a new 'Canadian Brands' collection on our website. These are the Canadian owned companies that we sell and proudly support. 
Does it really matter where I buy from?
Buying online from Amazon does not keep money, jobs or taxes here. There is a reason Amazon is worth billions…and it is not because they care about giving back to our community. Demanding to know where the items are warehoused and shipped from, ensuring the corporate head offices are in Canada is supporting Canadian. Being intentional with where you spend your money…that is supporting Canadian.
All of our brands have value and meaning beyond the garments or items we sell. Each company we sell, no matter what country they are from, changes the way business is done to create a better world for all of us. Collectively, the brands we sell are from all parts of the globe, and have been standing up to change the status quo in their own space. That’s why we sell them, that’s why we will continue to sell them.*
We are so appreciative of the chance to sell B Crop brands. We are so thankful to have this opportunity to engage and discuss this topic. And we are so thankful for customers that are interested in knowing more.
Why we are different when shopping local!
Our goal since we started our business was to only sell Beneficial Corporations (B Corp )
because they are organizations that choose to do business differently. They choose to be
accountable, transparent, knowledgeable and committed to treating all people they do business with fairly, as well as meeting high environmental standards. They do this because they, as we, believe it is a better way to do business.
Our belief in that has not changed. Our world is integrated in a trade system that until recently was quasi functioning…and we felt we were doing the best we could in this environment by selling B Corp brands; brands that give back to their community, pay fair wages, ensure safe working conditions and sell quality items.
